Google Enables Self Defense in Android Phones

Google has begun remotely removing trojan-like apps from Android phones to protect users against malicious apps. Up to 200,000 users may have downloaded the apps, which were labeled as innocuous apps or as adult apps. The apps collected personal information and exploited security holes in Android. Google has released a mandatory security update to patch the hole.

MWC 2011: Motorola to update Motoblur, acquires 3LM, expected to announce Droid X2 and Droid 3

Motorola’s Motoblur UI is getting a major overhaul with a focus on social connectivity and multimedia. The new UI includes Connected Music, Connected Gallery, and Aloqa, as well as the MotoConnect suite. Motorola has also acquired security firm Three Laws Mobile (3LM) to enhance the security of its Android products. Additionally, Motorola is expected to unveil the Droid X2 and Droid 3 at MWC.

MWC 2011: LG Optimus 3D packs 4GB of RAM

Introducing the LG Optimus Prime 3D, a smartphone that blows away the competition with its 4GB RAM, glasses-free 3D display, and HDMI-out with support for 3D. It also packs a dual-core 1GHz Texas Instruments OMAP4 processor, an 8GB microSD card, and a 5 megapixel dual-lens camera that can capture in both 2D and 3D. Running Android 2.2 Froyo with a Gingerbread rollout coming soon.
