Let’s talk XBOne and PS4 – no one got it right

Last night I was elated after hearing Sony announce not just the price of the new Playstation 4 (a paltry $399) but their steadfast commitment to consumers – the PS4 was going to support used games! As I’m likely to do after most great evenings, this morning I awoke a little bleary-eyed, tired, dehydrated, and still excited. Sony had not only watched their main opponent … Continue reading Let’s talk XBOne and PS4 – no one got it right

Xbox One, Licensing vs. Ownership, and Voting With Your Wallet

Today’s news about the forthcoming Xbox One’s reported limitations on their “license” and how it’ll affect consumers is a bit troubling. The short version of this is that Microsoft has created a system that can potentially kill the trade-and-resell market for video games but has deferred the actual pulling of the proverbial trigger to publishers. It’s a half-ass stance that is not unlike Microsoft’s current business culture … Continue reading Xbox One, Licensing vs. Ownership, and Voting With Your Wallet

Review: Mass Effect 3: Are you ready for the battle of Omega?

Prior to the beginning of the Mass Effect 3 storyline, the human-first group Cerberus seized control of the strategic Eezo mining colony Omega from its iron-fisted ruler Aria. Early MW3 Players: Fear not the banhammer

When you’re dealing with a highly anticipated video game, release dates become something of a suggestion – especially for mom & pop shops that simply can’t compete with big box retailers. When Super Street Fighter 4 was about to be officially released, I ran down to a game/sneaker/cell phone place that was selling it a week early. In other words, it happens. Last week rumors … Continue reading Early MW3 Players: Fear not the banhammer

Arkham City: Initial Thoughts

So in case you missed it, a little video game called Batman: Arkham City was released this past Tuesday (18 OCT 11).  Being a fan of the first game (appropriately titled Arkham Asylum) I pre ordered this game as soon as I was able.  And then I waited. We will be doing a full and in-depth review and rundown of this game shortly but we thought we’d give our initial thoughts first and save the detailed goodies for tomorrow.
