Twitter improving search, adding native photo hosting

Twitter, who has been trying to gain ground within its own platform lately, has announced via their blog that they’re improving their search and adding a direct upload photo hosting function. The search function seems to be an improvement on the types and quality of results, and is better integrated into their Firefox with Twitter application. The bigger announcement is the integrated picture service.

The service appears to be hosted by Photobucket, and will work directly from Twitter.com (yeah, who uses that?) They also say that they’re working with carriers on activating MMS uploads for those without smartphones. This feature will soon be pushed to their official apps on various platforms, so we’ll let you know how it works out.

Also of note: Why is Twitter’s blog a Blogger page? Can’t design a decent Tumblr page?
