There have been plenty rumors of a new Lumia handset making its way to consumers in the coming months. The general consensus seems to be a change in design language, opting for an aluminum case instead of the now signature polycarbonate unibody design.
According to a report from The Verge, the rumored phone, (pictured at a left) code named “Catwalk”, may be officially announced at an event in London on May 14th. The timing may be more of Nokia’s guerrilla style PR – the event is scheduled for the day before Google’s I/O conference is set to open – hoping to steal the spotlight away from their competitors.
As far as the rumored device itself, the phone seems to be a decent enough upgrade from the Lumia 920 with a 4.5″ display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 8.7MP camera with LED flash all wrapped up in a cleaner (read less bulky) and lighter aluminum casing. In fact if we had to point at something we didn’t like in the rumored spec-sheet, it would have to be the paltry 16GB internal storage (for reference, the 920 comes with 32GB).
We’ll have our eyes on London come mid May. Nokia, don’t disappoint.
