Avenger’s Trailer: Mini-Review

The Avengers. The Mighty Avengers. Call them what you will, Earth’s mightiest heroes will be assembling on your local cinema’s screen this May.

Since Iron Man was released all those years ago, Marvel has been building towards this moment. Now lets be honest, this project seemed almost impossible. A collection of heroes that had massive back stories all their own? How would this work? What story lines would we draw from? Well, Marvel went and made movies about all the individual heroes (see Iron Man, Hulk (Ed Norton one), Thor, and Steve Rogers) giving us all the back story we needed for an Avengers movie.

Well, the trailer for this movie was released Tuesday, the 11th of October.

I was hooked from the first frame. Your starting lineup is: Samuel L. Jackson as Colonel Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Robert Downey, Jr as Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Scarlett Johansson as Natalia Romanov, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner. What’s that? You thought I said that Ed Norton played Bruce Banner? Well, he did. But due to Hollywood politics he is not.

I’m not going to try and figure out why, but there it is. So, this is my thought process of what’s going to happen in the movie, based on the trailer. Well, let me back up first. For the longest time I thought that perhaps the Avengers would fight the Hulk. Which is why perhaps there was going to be no Ed Norton. But, once I watched the trailer, I started to feel like I was wrong. In this humble writer’s opinion, it looks like Loki will lead the Kree/Skrull to Earth. I could still be wrong I know I’ll enjoy the ride no matter the final plot. I like how Joss Whedon seemed to take pages from John Favreau’s book of directing. The movie looks like it will have a similar feel to the Iron Man movies, and I am a-ok with that.

The visuals look sharp and flawless. As far as length, I’m hoping for around 2.25 hours. They’ll need that time to address Thor’s return to Earth and getting the gang together. All I know, is that I can’t wait for May.

*Disclaimer: I know that some of the answers/detailed plots may be out there already, but this was my thought process on the trailer. I’m trying to remain as spoiler free as possible.

Seriously, when you have R.D. Jr. as Iron Man, who else do you need?
