For the past week, Anonymous had spread the word of the a planned protest on New York City’s Wall St; or the biggest financial hub in the US. Up until now there hasn’t been much in the mainstream media about the Adbusters sponsored, Anonymous backed protests; mainly because they’ve been a peaceful affair with many demonstrators milling about at near by parks.
That all changed this weekend when NYPD officer, Anthony Bologna (yes, Tony Boloney) maced a group of demonstrators, including two unarmed women after corralling them in a mesh baracade. In the YouTube video above, Bologna is seen spraying a group of female protestors without provocation as tensions seem to escalate. If the NYPD was hoping that this protest would simply lose steam for lack of interest, they chose the wrong way to handle it.
Anonymous has now come forward with what they believe to be the professional and personal information of the man in the video and in usual fashion, posted all the information on pastebin. Also included in their latest release is a message to the NYPD:
As we watched your officers kettle innocent women, we observed you barberically pepper spray wildly into the group of kettled women. We were shocked and disgusted by your behavior. You know who the innocent women were, now they will have the chance to know who you are. Before you commit atrocities against innocent people, think twice. WE ARE WATCHING!!! Expect Us!
Anonymous is one of the few groups to be heavily reporting on Occupy Wall Street using their celebrity/infamy to keep this in the eyes and minds of the general public. It seems that what hopes for a continued, if uneasy, peace between demonstrators and police may be slowly and publicly deteriorating.
