Apple sells over 1 million MacBook Airs in Q4 2010

Remember Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the guy who foretold of a retina display powered iPad 3 in the fall and a possible upcoming jumbo-iPod? Well our buddy is back with sales figures on the recently refreshed MacBook Air. Although Apple officially revealed it’s laptop sales for the fourth quarter of 2010 to be numbered at over 2.9 million, it didn’t break down that number further to give us a figure on how each of its laptop sub-products fared in the market. Kuo states that his recent market checks in Asia show that MacBook Airs accounted for 1.1 million of that 2.9 million sales figure. That’s about 38% of Apple’s laptop sales over the course of three months. Kuo originally had estimated about 400,000 Air sales for the fourth quarter. Although Air sales have dropped significantly (40%) this quarter, Kuo expects the refreshed MacBook Pro line to offset those numbers.
