The devil went into the future and placed creatures which he subsequently killed, or perhaps created the fossils and left them to age for millions of years into the future. Then when they were sufficiently old enough to fool the true age of the 6,000 to 11,000 year old earth, he took them back in time and buried them. That way we would find these million year old fossils and lead us astray from the truth.
