So did you watch the Golden Globes? Yeah… me neither, but I did hear about all the trouble Ricky Gervais was in after a hard hitting monologue that offended a few of those Hollywood types. It’s a situation that seems to happen all too often nowadays. Someone says something edgy, the wrong person hears it (or hears about it from someone who thought it was funny), and they freak out, boycott advertisers products, cry to the FCC, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Personally, and this is an editorial so deal with it, I hate when this happens. Lucky for me, Ricky Gervais agrees. “I’m sorry if they were offended but I’m not sorry for anything I said,”<\/em> said Gervais when asked about his edgy act. He was also interviewed at length about the incident and never once hinted that he regretted saying anything. He’s a strong supporter of free speech and the idea that anything can be comedy, as long as it’s not meant seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
