Yes! It’s finally here! I’ve got my hands on my very own brand spankin’ new iPhone 4S. As a person who loves taking photos of the random things our beautiful planet has to offer, I just had to do a review on Apple’s new and improved iPhone camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking Photos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The camera on the iPhone 4S has an impressive 8 megapixels, which is a bump from the iPhone 4’s already nice 5 megapixels. Some of their new features include face detection for up to 2, 4, 6, 8,<\/del> 10 faces, in-album editing, such as cropping, red-eye removal, and a quick auto enhance option. There are also a few more technical details that help explain how the camera will make your photos look more magical, but I’ll go ahead and let Apple explain that part to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…The all-new, advanced optics in this camera work together to make sure whatever light you have gives you the best image possible. The custom lens uses five precision elements to shape incoming light, which makes the entire image sharper. The larger f<\/em>\/2.4 aperture lets in more light, so photos look brighter and better. And the advanced hybrid infrared filter keeps out harmful IR light, so you\u2019ll see more accurate and uniform colors.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Below are a few photos I’ve taken around the house that really highlight the camera’s improvements when shooting with indoor and outdoor lighting. Comparing them to the iPhone 4’s photos, you can really notice the difference. There’s less glare around the lights during nighttime shots. The image noise in the photos are barely noticeable, which helps the colors appear more solid. And any white objects appear, well, they look white! The white areas don’t have that greenish tint that the iPhone 4 photos show. <\/del> (UPDATE<\/strong>: Looks like the iPhone 4 I was using to take these has a defect creating that green tint in the center of the photos. Sorry about that everyone.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking Video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A huge bonus the new iPhone 4S camera has is the ability to shoot 1080p High Definition videos. It also comes equipped with automatic video stabilization to assist with any unwanted shaky recording. Watch the collection of test videos I made using the iPhone 4S below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
