So whats next? PLUS: Jon Stewart vs Tucker Carlson

Well, the site is working again, the gallery is up. What’s next? Probably the long awaited Xanga archive. And after that, I hopefully will get 30 second audio clips for each song in every album in the Tunes section.

So I was watching Crossfire the other night on CNN, all to be surprised by…Jon Stewart, the host of Comedy Centeral’s The Daily Show. I must say, things turned out pretty ugly between Tucker Carlson and Jon. What was supposed to be a friendly Crossfire debate quickly turned into a heated insult flinging extravaganza. Tucker started of by saying Stewart was a sellout for publically backing up John Kerry. Stewart came back bashing Crossfire, saying it was “partisan hackery” that doesn’t do anything to advance democracy. Going back and forth, things got a bit out of hand, with both guys getting pissed. Tucker then demanded Jon be funny, and Jon replied “I’m not going to be your monkey.” Tucker then said that Jon was “more fun” on The Daily Show, so Jon replied that Tucker was more of a dick on Crossfire. It was awesome. I think Jon blew Tucker out of the water, cause Tucker kept avoiding the hard questions Jon was flinging at him. You can watch the entire event here and decide for yourself who won.

Gallery Up!

I am happy to announce that the photo gallery is up and working perfectly! So perfectly, in fact, that it has photo galleries from events dating back to as early as 2002! You can view the gallery by clicking on the Pics button in the menu. Clicking on a thumbnail will open the picture in 640×480 view. For a more detailed look, click on that picutre again for an 800×600 view. You can leave comments on pictures if you want as well. I will be going through and labeling each picture, describing who is who and what is going on when I get the chance. This gallery is also much better than the gallery i had on the old site. More user friendly, easier to use, and shouldn’t take lots of time to load :) Enjoy the pictures!

Back To Normal

OK, site is back to what it was before the move. BUT, one change: the guest book. I took advantage of the opportunity to use a better guest book, one that is easy to use, easy to customize, and easy to admin. The only bad part is, I couldn’t transfer posts. So what I did was, I rewrote all the guest book entries and added at the bottom of each when they were originally posted. The entries include all the original post information, including IPs, except for the date. Hope you enjoy the new guest book.

New Host

OK, Some of you might have witnessed about an hour or two of downtime. I apologize. I was having some major problems with my old host, so I decided to give them the FU and found someone else to host my site. I am extremely impressed. Everything got set up and transferred in under 6 hours, much less than the 24-48 hour estimate :D . I am now paying a few extra dollars, but in return, I’m getting exponential storage and bandwidth capacity than my old host. So it’s gonna be pretty much impossible for me to run out of space or bandwidth on this host :D OK, there are still a few things I have to work out though, such as the guestbook. I had to do a manual upload of this blog as well as manual MySQL configuration to make this thing work too. So, hopefully tomorrow everything will be back to normal and I will be able to get the photo gallery set up!

Gallery Problems

Grrr, I’m having technical issues with my host in terms of my photo gallery. I’m afraid they might not support it. I had some installation problems that took me 2 days to resolve with them, and now I can’t upload files. Its all been server-side issues too. The worst that can happen is me transferring this site to a different host. I’ll let you know what will happen, and if there will be any site downtime.

Vandi/Petrelis Concert

OK, so I am currently ready to fall asleep. Last night i went to the Despina Vandi/Thanos Petrelis concert. It was friggin awesome! The beautiful night made it even better! The last time Vandi came here was 4 years ago, so its rare that I see her up close and personal :D . So around 7:00pm I went to Iguana Cafe where our group met up. We ate a light dinner and then took cabs to the concert. There had to be at least 1700 people at the concert. I mean, it was sold out for sure. It was at the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom, so it was HUGE. And if the city of chicago was smart, it would convert that room to a nightclub cause its PERFECT for a hot and cliche House club. Get some trapeze dancers coming down on cables from the cieling and stuff. Anyway, so this place was huge, it had about 4 bars, and an open promenade by the riverfront. I don’t really care about Petrelis. He sang his 4 songs like 5 times. I don’t think he’s that great either. On the other hand, the Greek diva (who I take this opportunity to add that she achieved worldwide fame when her hit “Geia” reached the top 10 Billboard Dance charts) Despina Vandi came out and tore the place up. And she looked good as usual. Especially after having a baby too, she looked as fine as she did 4 years ago :) . I saw many people at the concert, cause, no Greek in his rational mind would ever miss a Vandi concert unless they had work or were one of those fake Greeks who have one or both parents as Greeks, but the closest thing they’ve encountered to the Greek language, culture, or country is baklava. Damn, that voice of hers is something else. No wonder she’s the number 1 Greek singer in the world. And she’s married to Demis Nikoalidis. So Despina and Demi are like the Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston of Greece. Yeah, so I took pictures, and I had lots of fun. Since it was a Wednesday night, we didn’t really go to GreekTown and party our friggin asses off :( . I didn’t drink much either, only two Vodka Cranberries. We went back to Iguana, had a midnight snack, and then I headed home. And today I woke up at 7:00am to go to school :( . Anyway, time for sleep. Pics will be up…who knows when.
